Challenge Me Monday - #1 Dad FCCB #63 - SCAL Hints

Good Monday morning everyone!  It's time for another Challenge Me Monday! I barely made this one in time and I apologize to the girls over at FCCB for my tardiness on posting my photo. To be honest, I haven't quite finished the inside yet. This card will be for my Father-in-law as he loves golf. I thought I would try the Sure Cuts A Lot disc that I won a long time ago, for the first time! It's awesome! I love using it to design. I made signs for about 9 years so the format, for me, is so easy to use and so much better than using the Expression directly or even the Gypsy! I'm in love and plan on purchasing Cricut's Design Center software next month so I can use all my carts on it. Can't wait!

For this card I decided to make a shape card, which I really haven't done before. But, by the time I figured out what I wanted to make, I didn't feel like pulling out my Cricut to cut it so I used the Creative Memories cutting system. It's awesome and so quick! I bought it in a lot I got off Craig's list with no true intention to ever use it, but now I'm really glad I have it.

On to the pictures. The details will be posted below.

This card is one I just kept adding to!  I used some funky font that was already on SCAL 2.0 and cut it on my Cricut Expression.  It did amazingly well!  Well, then I thought, how am I going to get these letters off and put them on evenly without spending like two hours on it... So I used some transfer tape (didn't have white vinyl so used white cardstock) and it worked like a charm lifting it off the adhesive mat.  (Hint:  Flip the mat over and squeegie - rub- the back side if it doesn't come off easily).   So that was genius, but then I thought, how the heck are the letters gonna stick down to the card without having adhesive on the back?  Duh.  So I took some adhesive spray, sprayed the back of the letters, laid the transfer tape on the card, and just used my fingers to rub the letters down.  Once again, worked perfectly!  (Do this part quickly so the adhesive doesn't dry too much.)  Thank goodness for all the years of sign shoppe experience!

I found the awesome "Golf" icon on www.freesvgfiles.com from Nancy's Creative Papercrafts.  I just love it!  I broke apart all the layers and cut each one separately in different colors after hooking up my laptop to my Expression.  So quick and cool, but be sure you have any cartridge loaded so you can load and unload your mat or it won't work!  Learned that one pretty quick. ;)  I just used random cardstock that I had in my stash and used Glossy Accents on the golf ball, Colorbox ink around all edges, a brown pen and white gelly roller for some details and some stickers in the center for the #1 Dad part.

I decided to add a little extra to the card and put some grass paper on the bottom and added the "Happy Father's Day" adorable little stamp from Making Memories in the center on the bottom, then I used lime Stickles around the whole thing, after inking it of course. :0)  I think that's pretty much it!  I hope you like it.  I think it's kinda cute.
I'd like to know if you all think I should get a camera and make some video tutorials.  Would that be helpful to anyone or are there enough out there?  Let me know what you think!  Remember, I post Thursday Tutorials over at FCCB as well.  Be sure to head over there for this challenge too!  Let's see your stuff gals & guys and show us what you can come up with for an awesome Father's Day project.  You might just be picked winner or one of our top five!
